First type of task in academic writing is to describe some visual information. The visual information may be provided in a graph, a table, a chart, or a diagram. The candidates must describe the information in their own words. The description should be written in an academic or semi-formal style. Second type of task in academic writing is to respond to an argument or a point of view or a problem. There is no standard way of writing this section. In the general training writing, the writing level is not so rigorous as in case of academic writing. The candidates are supposed to write about everyday situations such as: writing to a new employer about time management issues they are facing, writing to a college accommodation officer about problems faced in accommodation,writing to the editor of a local newspaper regarding a plan to develop a local airport in the city, writing to a renting agency to resolve problems with the water supply or heating system in the house. Our trainers train the candidates in choosing an appropriate style of writing, which depends on who they are supposed to write.
